intel 845D HD controller vs Promise onboard Raid

Currently I have a 266A via motherboard with my HD running off the promise raid chip (though not in raid mode, acting only as another IDE controller). i'm upgrading to the intel 845D chipset with onboard promise raid. Would it be faster for me to place my HD on the intel HD controller and use the intel application accelerator (under winxp) or leave it on the promise chip? On the via setup, the via HD controllers were noticibally slower than the promise.
