Intel 815e gripe

It seems to me that almost all the 815e motherboards have sound and video onboard. In fact, I haven't seen any without. Is it part of the chipset spec that video and sound MUST be onboard? Seems like an aweful waste to me. If I buy a motherboard, I'll end up disabling both and adding my own solutions. Onboard video and sound just seem like a great way for them to charge more for their boards. Anyways, my message to motherboard manufacturers would be: make me a board without onboard video and sound, call it a lite version, make it cheaper and I'll buy it. Right?

yes 815 comes with onboard video, and a max of 512megs. those are the largest draw backs.

however, just keep in mind that your 815 is a place holder until you get a DDR board next year.

the asus cusl2 doesn't have onboard audio. the microATX version cusl2-m does though. great for an integrated 'parents' machine...

i think its good that someboards have video and sound like my girlfriend got her a cusl2 with video and then added generic sound card all she does is use it for school
