Intel 815 Mobo and PIII Compatibility Problem

I have an old motherboard that uses the Intel 815 chipset. It works fine with a 1ghz PIII chip, but not a 800mhz PIII chip. I have verified that both work fine in another motherboard, a DFI CA64-TC using the VIA 694T/686B chipset.

Unfortunately, I do not know what the make of the motherboard is, but since it is a Intel 815, and runs the 1ghz PIII just fine, why won't the 800mhz chip work? Does anyone recognize this incompatibility, or know how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, I checked the timing speeds. After some testing I determined it was actually a faulty / damaged CPU chip =[
It's rare but it happens, oh well at least I figured it out eventually =)
