I have an Intel 810e (I think) Chipset and 2 questions.

a) The Intel 810 I've got has a graphics card that comes with it (part of Intel 810, build in). I'll updrage to a Geforce 3 very soon. Now, I don't want to get a new system just yet. I think I'll just give my system some power with that geforce 3.

I asked 2 people that looked into my comp and said I can upgrage to a Geforce 3, in order to do that however I would have to deactivate all the Graphic Possibilities of the intel 810 chip, and I don't know at all how that do that. If I smash my Geforce 3 into my system, will it automatically deactivate the intel 810? If not, how can I do that manually?

b) I've heard that the Intel 810 wrecks a Pentium 3 (which I have). How come? Does it decrease Performance? If so, by how much (in frames per sec. maybe).

by the way, I haven't upgraded my Intel 810 drivers in... 1 1/2 years. Is this the correct link? http://downloadfinder.intel.com//sc...oductID=178&OSFullName=Windows*+Me&submit=Go!

Thanks for any help.

the i810 chipset doesn't have a agp port, so you can't upgrade to a geforce3. You will have to upgrade with a pci vga card. Im not sure what's reccomended there, but there are a few geforce 2mx, voodoo5, and some ati cards.

the 810 doesn't wreck the p3 performance, but the chipset doesn't have great expanding possibilites, espesially the vga part.

Yeah you need to change the motherboard.

If you still want to use your current cpu you could get the i815 instead. eg asus tusl2-c (tualatin support, and no onboard vga).

Intel 815?
I'm not sure now. I know I have Intel eight-hundred something. How can I see exactly if my mother board has AGP or what chipset I have?
Is there any other way to get the geforce 3 into my system? Or how much would the next best/least expensive mother board cost?

What OS are you using? You should see something about the chipset used in device manager under system. The BIOS should have info when you are booting up as well. You could always open up the case and look inside. An AGP slot will be the top most slot. It is a little shorter than a PCI slot, placed a little further back, and usually a different color (brown). HERE is what an 815 mobo with an AGP slot looks like.

Yes, I have Sisoft. If you dont have an AGP slot, you can not use a GF3 card. You can use a GF2 MX400 PCI, which is far from a GF3, but quite a bit better than 810 graphics.
