Intel 4965AGN: Is it worth it?

Is it worth the extra $40 to upgrade for a college laptop? The school has wifi, and I know they're considering upgrading, but I can't imagine they'd leave out the b/g people.

Also, how is the Linux support compared to the Intel 3945ABG ?

I would be SHOCKED if your school was installing 802.11a at all. I don't think I've even heard of it being done before.

Yes, and unless you school specifically mentioned that it was upgrading to N wireless, then there is no need to get that card.
