Still losing money. Revenue flat Y/Y, margins continue to drop. Third quarter forecast is to lose more money but increase revenues a little Q/Q. 18a on track, first PTL SKU to ship this year.

And plans to quit Europe and Costa Rica, damn, don't be surprised if this continues, Intel goes fabless.

This is karma. The sooner they rid themselves of their IDF legacy, the sooner they can rise anew. Until then, it's scary to think about a world without Intel since they have shaped everyday computing for more than 30 years of my life. Can AMD shoulder that burden alone? Do they actually BUY Intel for scraps, thus ensuring a less scary future of personal computing?

From LBT's "letter":
In data center, we are focused on regaining share as we ramp Granite Rapids while also improving our capabilities for hyperscale workloads. To support this, we are reintroducing simultaneous multi-threading (SMT). Moving away from SMT put us at a competitive disadvantage. Bringing it back will help us close performance gaps. We are also making good progress in our search for a new leader of our data center business, and I plan to share more on that this quarter.
Was SMT ever removed from the Xeon roadmap? I thought it was planned for the all P-core designs.

Diamond Rapids, apparently.

Now the question is if Intel is going to delay Diamond Rapids to re-activate it or if it will be only for the generation after it.

I could see the EU and a few other countries like Japan, Australia, Canada etc. coming up with some cash to run the previously Intel fabs as a joint effort to stave off the threat of TSMC worst case scenario.

If they can even just manage to be the No.2 semiconductor fabrication company in the world post-Intel, it would suffice.

Why would They do that?

I don't think Intel can afford to delay DMR.
An interesting question if when DMR next is going to be. 27 means it uses GFC, 28 means unified core might be on the table.
Intel has yet to give us a product roadmap for the next few years. Since LBT became CEO, updates on the roadmap to the public have been nonexistent.
