Intel 2200BG won't connect to AP when broadcast is off

I just put my 2200bg mpci wifi in my laptop today. My home router is set to have broadcast off, so it can't be detected. It also has a WEP 128bit password. My brothers laptop, also using a 2200bg can connect to the router, when it has the correct settings. However, mine can't. I am using the latest drivers + the latest proSet software. My settings are exact too, the SSID is accurate and has the right case, so is the wep key, etc... But it just won't connect or see it with broadcast off. When I turn broadcast on, it connects in a second. Is there something wrong I forgot to do? THanks.
