Hi guys i just bough an brand new pc with a msi 865pe board, 2.8c ghz intel fsb 800, 2 256 corsair ddr400 radeon np 9800. and WATER COOLED

So I was thinking man i would be able to push this baby to 3.2 at least....
But damn I cannot put my fsb over 210 or else my pc wont boot up or freeze !! wtf... with my water cooled processors is only at 28 cel. all the time

I must do something wrog ??!!! i got two corsair 256 memory that i paid a LOT OF $$ just to be able to overclock my system im able to put those 2 memory card to 2 cas -2 ras -3 ras to cas -5 row -8 so how come im not able to go over 210 !!! this my processor is fully locked??? since im not able to change my multiplicator setting.. thats so lame im so pist offf!!

the funny thing its that my vid card is working so damn grat with that water system im able to put my NON pro with pro bios to 465/385 with out any artifact... i thing i can go even over but i did not try it yet )

so its not that i dont like my 20k 3dmark 2001se score but damn i want some thing in result for my two damn pricey memory stick.

sry for the bad english typing here damn french canadien here )

Change your Vcore to 1.6, along with the Vdimm @ 2.8v.

Put the divider @ 5:4 and try running a 225 and the a 250 FSB....

If you can't do it there, try running timings of 2/3/3/7..

It's also known that a lot of the 2.8c's were poor overclockers, you may have gotten a bad chip.

Good Luck

Ahhh, i did not see this, 20 k you say... That's tough to do @ 2.9 and a 9800 np... Doing some overclocking on that 9800 ???

:p

Well there you go man, do a little more research on memory timings and overclocking and you probably can push it a little more. I don't believe you can just slap some WC on there and raise the heck out of FSB, that doesn't always work hehe.

Top, in the BIOS there should be settings for dividers... If you are running a 250FSB with the 5:4 divider then your memory is only running @ 200mhz whille you will still be pushing the 1000mhz FSB ( QDR )

:D

Currently you are using the 1:1 ratio and your memory may not be able to handle it...

k thx so i should look in my bios for a setting called divider ?... i Just try to put my mem to 333 not to 400 and now i can overclock to 248 perfectly stable at 3473 mhz ... so does that mean because of my memory its not able to hendle a a lot more over 400 timing ??! or my cpu ?? should i by some 533 memory ??

man all this fsb thing begin to be complicated

i just did a 3dmark and i got 18500 so i lost like 600 even if my cpu was running at 3500 so putting my mem to 333 it snot a good deal )

Well yea, having DDR 400 memory capability and only having run at 333 is a major underclock. So now try pushing up the FSB more. Think about your proc at 210fsb with a 1:1 divider. that runs 420mhz DDR which is an overclock to your RAM. That could have caused your instability and freezing etc. So now crank up your proc FSB and see what you can squeeze out of it now that your RAM isn't being pushed so hard.

You just made the CPU run slower by lower the actual FSB of the RAM... ( 200*4 = 800mhz -> 166*4 =533 )

You want to set your FSB @ 200 that's the normal for a P4c ( They are quad pumped so you get 200*4 = 800 mhz FSB )

If you want to overclock more without stressing the ram, you run what is called a divider or ratio... That way you can set your FSB @ 250mhz ( I.E. 250*4 = 1000mhz FSB )

By running the 5:4 divider it lets you still run that 1000mhz FSB but only making the memory run at 200mhz so you don't put so much stress on the ram.

Get it?

Or do you need a little more?

It's the motherboard that's total crap, i had one of those before I switched to my Asus P4P800 and I couldnt overclock worth crap with the msi.
