HI All

I need a processor for a new computer build. Based on your experience buying equipment before christmas in previous years do you think there will be any super sales or Intel price reductions in the next few weeks. I notice today a company has the 2.6 cpu with 800fsb retail box for 169.00 . Should I grab it?

thanks

Grab it! I wouldn't expect price drops until late January (speculation).

I would grab it. Prices will be pretty stable for some time. The 2.6 is now the lowest speed P4 available (2.4 just discontinued) so it won't drop in price all that much...it will probably just disappear during the next product launch.

I thought I read that Intel was launching the Prescott in early February. Wouldn't the "C" series of P4 drop in price at that time? I am tempted to get the 2.6C at Newegg for 169.00 but will it be 125.00 if I wait 2 - 3 months for them to drop when Prescott launches? The same logic goes for the 865PE MoBos that aren't Prescott compatible like the Asus P4P800 deluxe that I am eyeing. It is on sale for 124.00. Might it be in th 80.00 range in February?
