Lol, it sounds so cool. Hopefully we can get a good successor to Comet lake, but with PCIe gen 4.

I have heard that, yes, but I have also heard that it would have lower clocks and only up to 8 cores. I guess time will tell how it turns out.

The thread title has a subject "Question". I wonder what is the question?
I can tell you right now that Rocketlake will be inferior to Zen3. Alder lake is one year away (at best), so who knows how it will fare against Zen3, let alone Zen4.

Running a z490 system with i5-10400 for gaming only and it's a great system for that. Will probably toss in the top end Rocket Lake chip when it's out next year to put a bow on the system and say it's complete. :) I'm sure it will be a solid gaming/workstation for a while. In the meantime, I am interested in Alder Lake -- should be interesting times.

I basically concluded that I won't really care/need or have any worries about pcie4 for the time being. And with DDR5 on the horizon, I realize now that I will buy that stuff in the future, not now. So I look forward to building a PCIe4 DDR5 system when we are there.

This is a bit of a weird spot if we stay at 8 cores for a good while. I have 9900K, you'd have to tempt with with crazy IPC improvements to get me to buy another 8c CPU instead of a 12+. I imagine quite a lot of people are in a similar situation.

You are likely fine to sit out this gen. I have a 3900X and the only reason I am getting a new chip is because it is my hobby.
