what is the difference in the chipsets 715 vs 705 if they are both rated at 1.5Ghz? and what one is worth getting?

Is there a difference between the 735 vs 715 chipset aside for the jump to 1.75GHz?

thax for your help,

Yasha

I knew this model number thing was a mistake.

There are other factors to a chip than speed, like core revision and cache size.

The 715 is the Dothan core with 2mb of cache, the 705 is the banias core with 1mb of cache. 735 is also a dothan core with 2mb of cache. I agree that it's a bit too confusing.

I was looking at the Pentium M notebooks on Friday. I decided to wait until Monday to make a decision. Good thing I did. There was the unannounced introduction of the 705 this weekend. From what I can tell the 715 has these advantages over the 705:
[*]2 MB cache instead of 1 MB
[*]improved data prefetching
[*]better registry system
There may be other differences. Of course the drawback is the 715 costs more. Does anyone know of a review that covered these differences?

I was looking at Dell Inspiron 600m notebooks. On Friday, the 715 with the features I wanted cost $1716. On Monday, Dell doesn't offer the 715 anymore, but has the 705 with the same features for $1636. But the 725 got a price cut from Dell dropping it to $1682. I'd gladly take the 725 over the 705 for such a small price difference.

Dothan is the newer core prodcued on the 90nm proccess, with 2mb of cache, Banias is produced on the 130nm proccess, and has 1mb of cache.
