Intel® Core? Duo Proc T2300E OR Intel® Core? 2 Duo processor T5500 ???

which is better, I think the 2300E only draws like 15watts, so would it be better for battery use?

I've searched around and can't find a good comparison.

The 2300E will win in power consumption.

The T2300E does not draw 15W, that was a typo a while back. It has a TDP of 31W, the T5500 has 35W or whatever Core 2 is (Can't remember). T5500 will perform better due to architectural enhancements, with similar or slightly lower battery life. Between the two, I'd buy the cheapest but if its a marginal price difference get the T5500.

The T5500 will perform better than the T2300 with only a very small drop in battery life.
