Integrated i815 video resolution/refresh

Quick question:

Does anyone here know what the maximum resolution/refresh rate is at 32bit color with the i815 integrated video? I can't seem to find it documented anywhere.

My I.T. guys refuse to let me get a video card with my new system, and being a Graphic Artist, this is a major concern.

The highest I can go with my i810 is 1280x1024x32@85 Hz, and the i815 is based off the same i752 GFX core, right?

Realize that Im not 100% on this, like I said, yours might have more mem cause I believe that's what's limiting me.

But if you're a GFX artist, neither is for you.
Are they really so cheap that they wont let you get a G450 or at least G200?

It's not the money- I've got plenty in the budget for this system. It's that the I.T. guys absolutely refuse to order it with a video card, as it would mean ordering a system with a custom drive image, which would be out of their contract with Compaq. They also absolutely refuse to install one as they claim that they "can NOT support that". (I take it as that they just don't want to put in the extra work other than opening the cardboard box that it is delivered in)

Check out Anand's i815 review. I think he said the integrated video is based off the Savage 4 chip, but I'm not sure.

The integrated video supports 1280x1024x24-bit@85Hz, NOT 32-bit, or at least that's what I get on my CUSL2. I do NOT have an option for 32-bit, even with the latest Intel drivers.

In 2D thats the same thing.
Even in 32 bit mode you still have 888 RGB, with an alpha channel left over, but in 2D that wont be used.

And no its definately NOT based of the S4, its EXTREMELY slow.

Anyway, I can understand the IT guys somewhat, Im one myself 🙂
But, if I were you, I'd tell my boss I cant do my work in an efficent way unless I get a real GFX card.
Considdering you probabaly cost quite a bit of money every month, Im sure your boss will listen to that.
If he doesnt, well then its not really your problem, just do what you can, and if they dont like it, "you told them so" 🙂

The integrated video on the 815 boards (like mine) is horrible, bad 2D quality, and can't do 1600x1200 at all. With a 21" monitor, this means I keep it permanently on restriction. It's only there as a stopgap when I upgrade my video card....
