I searched the IBM-pages, if my thinkpad has an integrated antenna but found nothing usefull. They just say that some T23s are "wlan ready", which means, there's such an antenna, so I would need to buy a mini-pci card. But how can I find out, if there is there is one in my notebook? There must be an easier way than deassembling the display - at least I hope so :)

hope I haven't bothered anyone with my not so very good english...

open up the mini pci slot, if there are two leads then it has the built in antenna

I guess, you aren't talking about the two cables connecting the modem and the lan-card? so, no leads mean no antenna, I'm affraid... Well, thanks for the answer though.

it's usually 2 white cables that look like they have pop-buttons on the ends. one will have a tag that says main and the other aux (auxiliary). If the T23 is supposedly wifi-ready then it should have the antenna built-in on the side of the screen, you just need to purchase a miniPCI.

Here is a link where you enter your model # and it tells you everything about it.

Ive modified my Thinkpad R32. I used the mini PCI wireless card, soldered some thin wire to both leads, fed through the underside and wrapped them around the heat sink. Voila, wireless. Works pretty decently too with my linksys sytem. Of course, I waited til the warranty ran out.
