Integrate PHP-Nuke into existing website?

I'm just starting out a new website for my hockey team and on this site there is going to be site news, game recaps and player profiles/statistics.

I'm completely new to using PHP and SQL but for the most part I'm getting the hang of what's going on. I figured that instead of trying to code my own scripts and pages to access my databases which seems like a daunting task (I'd like to learn but at the moment I'm pretty busy with other things) I'd just use PHP-Nuke. I've heard that it is a fine place to start.

Anyway, I've got Nuke setup on my server and to say it seems overwhelming is an understatement. After looking around for 15 minutes I feel like I'd be better off just doing everything myself.

How am I supposed to integrate this into my current website? It seems as though it has created it's own website and now I have to modify that.

I haven't used PHP-Nuke myself, I run PostNuke (http://www.venomstats.com) on my website. No problems in getting anything added on. It's all done through the easy to use administration menu. I'll take a look at PHP-Nuke and see if I can give you any pointers though.

Not sure about these days, but in the past, PHPNuke has been notoriously insecure and generally condemned by people who seem to know what they're talking about.
