Intake or outake fan?

My case came with 2 fans: One in the side and one in the top. The side fan was set up to blow air out of the case? That didn't make sense to me at all so I reversed it to blow air into the case and right into the cpu. The top flows out so it's a one direction flow. Everything was fine but I just cleaned a whole lot of dust off my cpu heatsink and that lowered my temp 5 degrees lol. My question is should I have left the fan the way it was? That was a lot of dust in there.

you could make a filter for the fan if you are worried about dust, any material with small pores should do, search online fo options. You will still need to clean this out every copuple weeks or so. Your choice, cleana filter or you system 🙂

Ok thanks. If u get dust either way, then ignoring that, which is better for cooling? I don't see how you can have 2 fans flowing out that seems like they will just fight each other, and yet that is how it was shipped.

Yep, front and side fans should be intakes, and back and top fans should be exhuast.
