Int. modem and on board controller problem with Win2K.

I just installed win2K and I realised that i do not have drivers for my Aztec int modem(msp3880sp). The OS recognises this as a PCI communication device , under miscellaneous.

And It checks for a modem only on COM1 and COM2. In win98, the modem is at COM3.

Also, I use the on board sound controller (Asus k7v). I installed the Win2K drivers for it but it still does not initialise when I start up.

Anyone help me to get this fixed?

Yes, Windows detect's it but you really need the drivers or otherwise it will never work properly its like trying to run a geforce 2 with Windows Safe mode driver. I sugggest you go to the websites and download the drivers if they dont have a website with drivers you have one piece of junk board you had no buisness folling with in the first place.

You need to find the correct driver. PCI modems do not use COM ports in the same way traditional ISA modems did. They use a UART emulator which is built into their Windows drivers.

There is no W2K driver, but try the ones for NT4 or W9x. If they don't work, this W2K driver from a similar AOpen modem with the same chipset should do the job:
