Insurance Scenario

I live with my mother in her household and have my own car currently, paying insurance. My parents are getting divorced. My dad has a better credit rating than my mother so I am getting a new car financed in his name. The new car would be registered in his name and I would no longer have my car.

The car would then have to be insured in his name, correct? What would happen with my insurance? Would I just have to call and tell them I am getting rid of my car? If so, what about my mothers car (I would still be licensed, I would not need to drive her car though)? Since I am not in his household I cannot be on his insurance, correct? So therefore he would be giving me permission to drive it and if something were to happen (ie: speeding ticket or accident) his insurance would sky rocket because I was driving?

Any thoughts? I am so confused on how to handle this with the insurance...

Because I do not want them to note anything on my account. I guess I could call some random agent and not give them any account information.
