I'm 17. I'm in dire financial straits and can no longer afford my $3300/yr car insurance. I know the insurance company will penalize me for cancelling when someday I want to get car insurance again. My question is...

If I am listed as an Occasional Driver under my mom's insurance, does this count as having 'continous insurance coverage' and does this still provide me 'driving experience' with the insurance company?

I'd call, but I'm too damn impatient to wait until Monday.

Thanks.

Yes.

Sadly, because you are 17, it may not help much.

Mine was about $400/yr (mom and dad $700/yr, adding me raised it to $1100)

I feel bad for you dude, but mine is almost as bad. Mine is about 2700 with me under my mom's name but after 6 months, I'm switching to another insurance company and it's gonna go down to about 16-1700 a year so I'm happy.
