insurance question

Ok here's the situation.

My friend's mom got into an accident. The other person got ticketed at the scene and from all accounts it sounds like it was totally their fault. (details are sketchy cause this is secondhand info from my friend who she herself doesnt know all info) This happened in early Sept.

My friend has been trying to contact teh other person's insruance agent. No luck for a long time - seems like they are trying to avoid her. Finally, she talks with them and then it turns out that now they are saying its her mom's fault, they are looking for a witness, and that the police report says her mom was on a cell phone (don't know about this - my friend hasn't seen the report.)

My thoughts on this -
1) why is my friend doing anything at all? Shouldn't their agent be taking care of everything? Sounds like the other agent is jerking her around cause they can. Usually insurance agents know how to settle things faster.

2) If the other woman was ticketed - isn't that a pretty big indicator of whose at fault?

Thoughts?

She should turn it over to her insurance agent and let him take care of it. That's what you pay them for. The other person's agent works for the other person and isn't going to give her the time of day.

Exactly. If I was in your friend's mom's situation, I wouldn't even consider calling the other agent. I would have my agent take care of everything. That's their job.
