Insurance on packages

I'm selling a WD Raptor and want to know how much insurance I should have. I get $100 insurance but have to pay more for the next step, $200. I'm selling the drive for $105 shipped and the drive retails for $140+tax. I'm new to the whole shipping thing and I'm wondering if it's customary to put insurance on the selling price or the retail price of the product?

I'd say just get 100 insurance.... if you've ever been burnt by lost mail or damaged packages you'll gladly pay the dough.

I always went by what it would cost to refund the seller. But i suppose either way you could make a good argument.

The shipping method comes with $100 insurance anyways. It's only 75 cents more for $200 insurance, so it's really no big deal for something this small. But any other thoughts to decide whether or not I should save my 75 cents? 🙂
