imtim83, what would you do if a girl asked to get into the car with you? would you kick her to the curb?

Instead of restriction why not make it mandatory to learn how to:

defensively drive,

keep at least two car length behind another vehicle,

honk when it is necessary,

overtake a vehicle by accellerating to a speed that will not take 2 minutes to pass that vehicle,

keep the left lane open for people that was to pass,

learn what the hell highbeaming means when you are on the left lane (move the hell over), learn to use brains when in icy condition (stay the hell home or take a bus if you friggin got a geo metro),

adjust your damn HID lights to properly project,

when changing lanes do it quicker instead of taking 20 seconds,

when merging learn to friggin merge quicker,

when exiting don't slow down 2 miles away from the exit

Oh, and those of you complaining about the 17-to-21 age bracket rate hike, it's because all your stupid friends in their ricers and street racers get a lot of tickets and get in a lot of accidents.

When the 17-21 year olds of this country start driving responsibly, rates will go back down. The insurance companies work on averages, not on personal bias.

and exaggerations. are YOU gonna argue with them if they tell you that new drivers are idiots? they might be more dangerous, but that can easily get away with charging more than they should.

Can you restate that in proper english? I honestly have no idea what point you are trying to make here.

Actuaries determine through statistics the average claims rate of a given group. The amount of claims (average) is taken into account, and rates are formed around this average. Obviously the company has to make a profit, pay overhead, and account for contingencies. Who are you to say that the companies are charging "more than they should?"

Insurance is a scam. As a college kid who bought his own Mustang, I pay more in insurance than I do in car payments with no accidents on this record... (about to go up... long story).

I found a way to beat the system!

I make more fvcking money in three weeks than most college kids make in a summer. I pay all of my bills in the first 4 days of the month. The rest pays for toys (last week was MDR700's, before that was a pocket PC) and a nice, diversified saftey net portfolio. I'd like to see them try to make me drive any differently by raising my rates. I might just up my rider from 1 million liability to 2 just to spite them!

I just see something wrong with the solution to wreckless driving being "leech em for all they got."
Insurance companies are in it for the money only, but having cutthroat prices on insurance does serve a greater good. A kid thinking about a muscle car may find that a civic is more in line with what he can afford for insurance, or perhaps he can't afford any at all and has to bum rides from his parents. Or, perhaps he realizes that he can only afford liability and so is going to drive extra careful, because his car isn't covered if it's his fault.

acemcmacSo, how are you beating the system...? You make enough to pay for it...?

I would tell them no and drive away. I don't want anyone or anything.

I'm surprised that none of guys know that females actually get lower rates then males......so there is a discrimination, but not in the way you would assume. BTW Let these people complain about how we younger drivers should pay more insurance because it would mean lower rates for them, so why would they be against it? HMM I wonder what percent of car accident threads are made by older adults? I know if I got into a fault accident, I would not be able to drive anymore, simply because insurance would be too much. Until I do so don't B!TCH because not all teens are bad drivers, in fact we have faster reflexes than you GEEZERS! HAHAHAHA

Gotta love the no fault state of New Frickin Jersey. I got sideswiped while PARKED on the side of a rode during a snowstorm. According to insurance, I caused the accident while being legally parked just as much as the woman who slid across the road while turning and swiped me.
