Insurance for rental car

Ok I'm getting my car painted next week so I'll be without a car for a few days. I still need a way to get to work so the best solution is renting a car.

If I already have insurance, do I have to purchase their insurance? I'm assuming my insurance policy covers rental cars.

One caveat: look at your coverage. If you are not adequately covered on collision and/or comprehensive you might want to think about an alternative.

Call your insurance company, it will only take a few minutes. You need to have more than liability IIRC.

Most platinum credit cards provide insurance for rentals if your normal car insurance doesn't (if you pay with that CC).

Is it true that if you wreck a rental and you have insurance and also bought the extra, that you regular insurance would still pay out first?
