Hello Guys,

I had some a previous post about getting a Acura TL. I am looking to get a 2004 Acura TL.

I wanted to know what extra costs you TL owners have for the car ? what is the average maintenance, the dos and don'ts of the car. Also how much does your insurance go up after getting the car is my main concern. My current insurance is i think $200 a month ? Currently, I drive a 1993 Honda Accord, So this car would be a big upgrade. I want your opinions on the car itself and i guess personal reviews !

Thanks
Also looking for a TSX probabaly.

Why can't you just call your insurance provider and tell them to give you a quote? You cannot compare insurance between people over the internet. Too many variables.

When I was 18 I had a clean record and nearly paid 200 / month for good coverage (especially medical) on a 1995 Neon sedan

Now I am nearing mid 20's and I pay 105 / month on a 1996 Honda Accord 2 Dr, but I have over the years accumulated 3 tickets (2 speeding and one accident) last one was a year and a half ago

im 19, and i have had 1 speeding ticket. I did have a accident, but did not get a ticket for, and my insurance went up less than $50.

I have a 2006 TL. Clean driving record except 1 speeding ticket a couple of years ago. In Atlanta and I'm 35, single. Insurance is ~$800 per 6 months for 100/300/100 full coverage through Allstate.

I have no idea what your financial situation is like but I'm guessing you'll be paying double of what you're paying now.

i personally feel 200/a month is rather high and well from a 93 accord to a 04 TL, that would be a somewhat parellel move, i would say $250-350 just going off my experinece. the accord has less safety features, most likely no ABS, side airbags, high level of theif and a whole bunch of other stuff.

i'm 22, overall clean record, 2 out of state tickets. i was paying $60/month full coverage on my 98 maxima and now i'm paying $50-55/month same coverage on my 2005 g35x. I was almost positive i was going to be paying about $100/ month but nothing changed everything was pound for pound the same.

But there is a way to many varibles to give you an exact idea. $200/month is $2400 a year. maybe your mistake for $200 for 3 or 6 months... I would also look into other companies as your company might charge you for the accident where as another company won't. Look into student discounts, good driving courses and a whole bunch of small things that can save you $5 a month. i've done everything that was given to me thru statefarm and thats the main reason why i'm at such a very low rate. I'm hoping hitting 25 makes a greater impact as well.

Wow - I don't pay that much ($200/month) for all 4 of my cars combined... and it's full coverage on all of them. Over the years I've a couple of tickets, a break-in, a deer strike, an accident, and 3 cars damaged by hail storms.

Look around for a better deal, and play them all against each other. You should get a break because you're buying a much safer car (sorry, the TL is SO not a 'parallel' move). Play them all against each other by advising each agent that someone else has a better price and ask what they can do for you. If they don't bite, call another agent from the same company until you've tried 3 different individuals (the company policies might not let them do anything better, in that case you know they're at least being honest).

Shop around. Takes a little bit of work, but it's worth it.

My Accord is a EX, and has ABS and SRS Airbag(only 1).
I consider 4 disc brakes to be a safety feature over drums...because they arent that good.

My dad has had allstate since the 70s and doesnt want to change, They didn't only charged me less than $50 for the accident since it was a older car.

Zerocool is correct. You are wasting your time asking others what they are paying.
Your time would be better spent calling your agent. I say this because it sounds like
you are on the same policy as your dad, so how is my telling you what I paid for my 2004
Tl going to help you?

If you have any questions on the car itself, I'll be happy to help there. I think you need to see how much more your insureance will be first though. Trust me, it won't be a wash.

expect similar monthly costs,

from your other thread it really looks as if you won't be able to afford a TL and the insurance cost, that is ALOT of money to be dropping on a low income

I think i want to wait till i graduate from college to get a car like that, Get it after you graduate, get a real job, and get a car as the reward for the accomplishments.

or
after i win the lottery !

Dropping the I want a TL thing is a very good idea, at least for now. I read your other thread, and there is no way you should be looking at getting a TL on $800 a month. If you really want it, wait until Summer and do what you have to make some cash. Then take stock, and see what car you can afford.

I sold my TL for $14000 last month to a co worker. It also had 70k+ on it. A 2004 should be going for at least 12k. The TL you were looking at would have been a bad move. Unless you are good at fixing cars, you don't want to get something with problems right from the start. Do yourself a favor, and start to do your research now, so you won't regret your purchase.

Your 2 threads are a great start, as you have some good people here. Good luck!
