insurance check finaly got in

couple of months ago my dakota was broken into in the Dr,s parking lot, after a real mess they have settled. now i need a new laptop, need some advice as i messed up big time before, bought a gateway and the only thing ill say is NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
looking at dell and toshiba, anyone useing these?
basic office and surfing but would like to use it with my digital camera

It depends on what your looking for but if you want a good laptop thats fairly inexpensive I'd suggest an Emachines M68XX of some type, great units only downfall is only 64mb 9600 Video cards and about 2.5 to 3hrs of battery life. If battery life is more Important get something w/ a Dothan Pentium M

Unfortunately the Emachines M68XX series appears to be discontinued. My boss was looking for one, and the only ones you could find were refurbished.

And I would have to recommend against them anyway. I have one and have had to have the keyboard replaced 2 times already. The keys break real easy from normal typing.
