Planning out a basement finishing project and was interested keeping the noise in the basement from travelling up to the main floor. I was thinking of just stuffing the space between the floor joist with good ole owens corning fiberglass. I was wondering if there is a better alternative. I am only interested in minimizing sound transfer. Heat transfer not a concern.

rock wool is much better for sound. if you really want to separate, use 2 layers of drywall and green glue, and acustic channel on the celling.
