insufficient title length for my "for sale" thread

i can understand if the number of characters allowed in a thread title must be limited, and yet i see that other people's thread titles in the FS/FT forum contain far more characters than 86 characters i'm allowed to us in my own thread title. i wouldn't have a problem with this if i were able to accurately state what i have for sale in 86 characters or less...but 86 characters obviously isn't enough. what gives?

Everyone is limited to 86 characters. Even the mods. So you should have just as many characters as anyone else.
 
thanks for the clarification...turns out those other thread titles just appeared to be longer than my own, but none that i took the time to count exceeded 86 characters...
