Insufficient privileges on own pc

I have a new Dell laptop but I am discovering I don't have sufficient privileges in certain cases.

Unfortunately I don't know what this happened with.

Surely I must have sufficient privileges as I own the damn thing.

Please can anyone assist.

What flavor of Windows?

Have you set up an Admin account?

Hmm, if you are logged in with admin account then try to right click on the program and click "open as administrator". that should do the trick.

I'm not necessarily attempting to open any as such pus on windows 8.1 isn't so simple.
