i've tried this with forceware. you may need to change some setting to make it do virtual res, but it works for me. If you go in your game and set it to use 2048x1536 either by menus or forcing it by a console command, it will go into virtual resolution mode and allow you to run the game on the video card in that mode and see the top left of the 2048x1536 on your monitor. it's a little difficult to use but it works. i can't absolutely confirm this is the same though since I don't have a monitor that supports anything higher than 1280x1024. both games i've tried with this method (quake3 and wolfenstein) report a resolution of 2048x1536 in the console using PIXELFORMAT.

if anyone here has a dual monitor setup where one monitor supports a higher res than the other and bench it with both real high res and virtual high res on one that would be awesome.

heh no i mean running the resolution on the video card itself and not actually outputting to the monitor. something that would work even if i didnt have a monitor. you didn't think i was THAT stupid did you? :D

oh i think i found a way to do it haha. well in the ForceWare control panel I can specify 2048x1536 and it actually goes to it using virtual resolution. this works in games too, sort of. I get lower fps when i bench at the actual 1280x1024 than the virtual so i can only assume it's working. i'm going to verify this with some other games.

edit: it appears to be working on a few games I have tried.
