Instruction on cutting a new intake then mounting fan

I'd like to cut an intake hole in the bottom of my aluminum case for a 120mm intake fan. I will use a hole saw to cut the hole, and I've got a 120mm fan template I will use to line things up. Questions:

1) Do I mount a fan grill on the outside or inside of the case?
2) Is there a filter product I can use to cut down on the dust intake?
3) Do I use rubber washers or something comparable to mount between the case and the fan in order to cut down on vibration noise? Or should this likely not be a problem if the fan is mounted flush and securely?

Any other tips or suggestions about this procedure are welcome, it's my first modding adventure.

On the bottom? Might I ask, why there? I assume you'll have good standoffs to keep the case elevated off the desk/floor.
I don't use rubber washers, so I can't say what effect they'd have.

Ok, I'll give it a shot:

1. I'd mount a grill on the inside of the fan. I don't know if you're ever inside your case while the system is running, but remember that it would be awfully easy to accidently get a tool or a finger into the fan!

2. You can get plastic filters which mount on the outside of the case to help with dust and crap. They aren't expensive....

3. I'd use some rubber washers in between the fan and case. I don't know if it's truly necessary, but it doesn't cost anything either! I do it as general practice when mounting fans.

I take it that this system will be on a desk, table, or uncarpeted surface?

It's a Lian-Li 6070 'quiet' case, with a big front panel, which eliminates being able to draw more air in from the front. Which leaves me with the top, bottom, sides and back. Based on those the bottom sets up the cleanest I think. There are decent standoffs on the case as it's designed to draw through the front-bottom with it's stock intake fans. Doesn't quite draw enough for me though. Sits on a desk with plenty of clearance for intake.

My apologies, I'm a moron. This is the layout I'm thinking of... as it would be all put together:

Internal Fan Grill (this is based on your suggestion of keeping my fingers safe)
Fan
Rubber washers
Case
Fan Grill/Filter (best case would be a combination product that covers up the ugly cut hole and cuts down on dust).
