So I'm guessing the reason this hasn't been done is that it's too much trouble and or not possible with the forum software. But the recent EPIC post and mod forum shenanigans got me thinking, especially DrPizza's last few posts at the end of that. When a member is permabanned you guys change their title to banned. But it's not at all clear when someone is vacationed. The loss of their avatar doesn't help as people can choose to remove their own. Now normally I'd say it's no body's business who is and is not vacationed but in cases like that thread it would clear up a lot of confusion and prevent a lot of the unfounded rumours flying around about people being permanently banned and what not. A lot of the drama in that thread was made worse by people thinking that so and so was perma banned when in fact they got like a 2 week vacation or something.

Technically speaking it's possible to institute a Vacationed title just like we do for Banned. We do not do so for policy reasons - primarily because a poster's infractions are not of the public record (e.g. it's not our position to say if someone is vacationed) - but the Admins could go into more detail.
