Instealled XP, got it running but need serious help .... Internet not working!!!!!

Ya I went back to ME to post this ..... I have a cable modem and and share it with another comp in the house. everything works fine when running Me ... But when I run XP both our internets don't work. Under Network connections 1 says enabled and recieving info and one says not working but both don't actually get onto the internet. please help. thanks .....
 
Assuming that all of your IP info is correct (gateway,dns settings etc), are you able to ping anything outside (by IP)? Do the machines have connectivity with each other?
 
I had the same problem. None of the http stuff would work unless I put it through my ISP's proxy. What I ended up doing was resetting my gateway and everything seemed to work after that. Not exactly sure how it fixed it though, or maybe it was a fluke. Still, its something to try.
