instant view incoming pm

with my slow dialup anandtech is a really slow website, esp. when I have a few windows open surfing.. when you get an incoming pm, I hate having to click to go to the pm page which takes a while to load, then click again to view the pm.. if you could just click on the flashing icon that says you have a pm and have it pop up with one click it would be sooooooo much better.

That's a good idea. Also if it could be changed to allow delete immediately after reading that would be good too 🙂

Yeah, I'd say that delete immediately option is pure money! 😉

Valhalla1, sounds good. Only issue I can think of right now is what happens when you have a new message, click the icon and then have some sort of network error so that you never actually see the PM but the forums now register it as old/non-new? Granted, it's a bit of a stretch... but... 🙂

As long that the instant PM view will not delete the message, the network error scenario can be compensated for by the checking the PM history for the latest message.

The Delete option can also work the same way. If there is an error, it would not be deleted and you are no worse off than the present situation.

the more I think about it the more I despise going thru multiple clicks and page loads on this site to get to stuff. =( how about this feature, I dont see any reason why this can't be done

What if you have 2 new messages tho...which one does it open?

when you have more than 1 new message, it just goes to the PM page like it does now. or in your customize menu you can configure it to open the latest one. even with situations like that is a win win situation, this is nothing but a good idea. 🙂
