do u think the nba should institute some sort of instant replay system, similar to the nfl's? due to some pretty calls i been seeing recently, i think it would be good if the coaches had like... say 2 challenges per half. i realize that instant replays slow the game down, but coaches currently use time outs to do so too. i think the nfl's instant replay system is fair. what do u guys think?

EDIT - should u decide to post, could u also tell why u think its a good or bad idea. thanx.

i don't like the plan you have, about instituting it the way the nfl does. I think the way they've been discussing it, in reviewing last second shots when the buzzer goes off, is good enough.

well with as many possessions as an NBA team gets per game, i don't think giving one or two replays to the coaches would really affect the outcome of a game. like in the nfl, one play can decide a game, we've seen that many times before. the only time that it would be beneficial would be in the 4th quarter, but then it would really hamper the greatness of the 4th quarter/last 5 minutes of an NBA game, which is when its at most exciting point. I just think for now, they should add the end-of-quarter replay for now and train officials better.

i think the replays would do more good for the game, than having botched calls tho. and i disagree with your point that one or two replays cannot change a game. what if it was a foul (sixth) called on say... shaq, or mcgrady, or iverson? and the last 5 minutes of games are always dragged along (like the nfl) becuz play is stopped quite often (in the nba, it's timeouts & fouls; in the nfl, it's incomplete passes, running out of bounds, spiked balls, & timeouts). i dunno... i might just be venting from some bad officiating. just looking for opinions. :)

Bill Simmons said it best.

2:01 -- When a kid from Illinois spells "sortileger" (someone who tells fortunes), the judges use instant replay to make sure he spelled it correctly (nope). For God's sake, even the Spelling Bee instituted instant replay before the NBA did. Unbelievable.
