I have a deep soaking tub that i use off and on in the cold winter.

I usually up the temp of my water heater to near max, and wait a couple of hours for the water to heat up. Then run the water for the bath tub.

While the water is running, i also turn down the temp on the water heater back to normal temp so i dont get burned when i take a shower next day.
Edit: And waste energy since i dont need a tank of super hot water to take a quick shower

Instead of waiting 2hrs, are there any small 'instant hot' water heaters that could work?

Sounds like you need an "on demand" heater plumbed in for that bathroom.

You cant leave it turned up and adjust the shower temperature before stepping in? I could see having it turned down if you had kids but you are a grown up...

sounds more trouble than it's worth.

Is there an instant hot version of that?

What temperature do you keep your hot water heater set to that you need to turn it up to fill a bath tub? Or do you have to do it because your tub is much larger than your water heater? How many gallons is your tub? How many gallons is your heater?
