Instant coffee

You know how instant coffee just never seems to taste quite right? Nothing beats a good brew, it seems. Instant coffee always tastes like it's been sitting too long or something.

Is there a good brand of instant coffee that I should try that actually tastes good? Nothing beats the convenience of instant coffee, and it's very easy to quickly make it really thick if you just need an instant shot of caffeine (short of taking a pill).

eh, well there are those little tins. international something or another. tastes ok with milk. nescafe is alright. i tend just to make coffee milk with it. use hot water..small amoutn to disolve..add milk..nuke😛 think it was on good eats, the more expensive instant coffees have more of the flavour/aroma captured.

I used to like Taster's Choice or Nescafe (not Nescafe Classico). Taster's Choice is made from real Arabica beans but at the same time, best part is you don't get a big jolt out of one cup (I suppose caffine % is very small).

You all are sick. Instant coffee is nasty and should be outlawed. How long does it really take to brew a cup anyway

If you only brew one cup in a 12 cup machine, it won't come out good, though. And if you only want one and make more, then you're wasting some.
Not that I'm saying instant coffee is a good thing 😛

I make a full pot every time, but I end up drinking it all anyway.

I'm drinking classico right now. The label is mostly Spanish (which doesn't phase me, but it's a little annoying).

I like the Taster's Choice: Master Roast (?) - I think that's what it's called. It's the brown jar, not the red (regular) or green (decaf).

I love instant coffee, sometimes even prefer it to the fresh stuff. I just drink the cheap stuff, but if you want really nice stuff I recommend Jarah if it's available in your area.

I regularly make 2 or less cups of coffee and usually drink the first cup brewed before the whole pot is finished brewing and have not found the coffee to taste any different.

Why would the size of the pot of coffee matter?

Anyway, you can always pick up one of those individual cup coffee makers.

Also, I guy I know brews whole pots (some special way of brewing, not using coffee maker) and then puts them in the fridge. Pours one cup at a time and heats in the microwave. Says its the best coffee that you have ever had.

Why would you want one cup of coffee?

Also, most machines have a 4-cup setting, and 4 cups is only really 2 decent cups of coffee...

Have you seen how much those coffee makers are or how much those little proprietary disks cost? Forget that.

I make a full pot anyway when I do brew coffee.

At the grocery store pick up a plastic cone. They're made to sit on top of the coffee cup, you put a #2 cone filter in it and enough coffee for one cup. Nuke some water and pour it in. It's like a one-cup coffee maker. Here is the one I use, though there are lots of different ones. But this one is $2.99. 🙂

I use it at night when I only want one cup, as well as when I'm travelling. The free coffee in hotels sucks balls. I use the hotel coffee maker to heat the water.

cool. I'll have to give something like that a shot some time.

One important reason why I'm at all interested in a good-tasting instant coffee is for times that I have no access to boiling water.
