If I reinstall xp to fix some problems that I am having with it, will all my files be erased, should I back them up on cd, because if I dont have to I won't.
 
I would back up the important files even though most of them should be unharmed. This is why I always partition a hard drive into two so that way important files can be on the second partition while the first is formatted.
