Greetings,
I can't install XP Home (SP2) on the single SATA 60GB Maxtor,,, When it ask for the VIA 8237 SATA DRIVERS after the the F6 promp it hits the floppy then goes on installing XP... Then the nasty BLUE Screen appears telling me it has stopped to prevent damage to my computer and gives a different error every time I try to install XP..? Do I need two SATA drives, or can I install to a single SATA drive and Boot from it... I had the same problem with a Abit KV7 with 2x 60GB Samsung 8k SATA's, the local Computer Shop said it was a bad Serial Controller on the board & its on its way back RMA to Califorina...
Please Help in resolving my problem... GBT...

Have you tried installing without pressing F6? It isn't always necessary - with the newer mobos, you almost never have to press F6 for single drive installs.

When you say it hits the floppy, what exactly do you mean?

Have you created a floppy from the CD that came with the board using the procedure outlined in the manual?

Is it actually reading the files from the floppy?

Yes I believe I have tried skipping the floppy, but I'll give her another try... I just setup a Soltek KT8-PRO-939 with a Winchester 3000+90nm, a gig of Corsair 3200, ATI 9250 128mb, 2x Samsung 80GB SATA drives, it fired right up took the drivers off the floppy & setup XP "BAMM" what a breeze... But it shows the 2 SATA Samsungs in the BIOS config screen right after the memory check... Thanks GBT...

Yes boomerang, After it hits the floppy it loads the via drivers for the 8237 chipset, then it has me select the VIA Drivers for XP... Then it tries to startup Windows "BAMM" the old BSOD with random problems... Header error, Line error, Windows has stopped loading to prevent damade to your computer... The it sugggest a memory and hardware check, which I've already done...
