Has anyone had issues with installing Windows XP onto a Promise RAID array? If I format the array, make my OS partition, and install XP from DOS, I get thru the first part of setup fine. After reboot, at the point where it says installing Windows, I get a BSOD, nothing specific, just generic STOP msg.

If I try to boot from CD, I can't, for some reason. I'm using an Asus P2B-D with dual PII 400's.

Do I have to install XP the same way we used to have to install 2000 with RAID? The replacement of the ultra66.sys with fasttrak66.sys, etc...........?

Anything else that I might be missing?

HI,

Hopefully I can help. I installed WinXP Pro onto my promise raid array. I first downloaded the lastest drivers onto a floppy and used that when I used F6 to install with alt drivers. Anyway it sounds like you did all that, the problem I ran into was upon reboot I would get a error message (can't remember which one). Turns out that I had to disable the onboard ide channel that contained my 3rd harddrive, for some reason it seemed to want to install something on that drive. But when I disabled that that channel all my probs went away. I am assuming that you have the first boot device as scsi (the promise add in card) Hope this helps!
