installing XP on my laptop and it says it can't copy a file then I get a PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error

Ok, my laptop was acting up, was going nutso, crazy, loco.

so i decided to reinstall XP. While in the midst of installing the computer kept on crashing. I then tried to install Linux and no luck, crash again.

i thought maybe bad cd player, plop $130 to newegg get a slim dvd burner and tried to reinstall said programs.

everything was going fine, then out of nowhere, BAM, durin setup, XP says the same error, this time XP cannot copy shell32.exe or something, i click on enter to retry, then BAM, i get a

PFN_LISR_CORRUPT BSOD

this sucks ass.

can anyone tell what this can be?

OP, it sounds like either faulty RAM or overheating. Go get yourself Memtest and run that, see what it comes back with.
