Installing XP on a Vista Laptop

Are there any directions online that are easy to follow for a non technical person? I want simple directions that instruct the person to create a partition and stuff like that so they can install XP to make their laptop a dual boot system. They need to run some programs occassionally that do not run on Vista (3ds max). Thanks for the help.
 
How do you repartition a drive on Windows without using Norton? Can't you do it through your command line or the administrative tools?
