Installing XP on a new build

I have just built my own new pc. I currently have a Dell latop with a Win Xp Pro reinstallation disk.

My question is can I use this to install WinXP on my new system.
If I have to ring for an activation code all I have to do is give the make and model of my laptop?? Will this work?

You do not have a valid XP license to use on your new rig, you will need to obtain one. The Dell one is NOT transfereable (sorry).

Yep, you need a new Win XP disk for O/S. A retail version is usable on subsequent installs when you upgrade mobo or new computer. You must naturally wipe old rig and call MS for re-activation.
