Okay.. Here is my setup:

AMD 64 3000
Biostar N4SLI-A9
200 gig Seagate SATA
DVD drive
2 gigs ram - 1 gig(2 512 sticks of PC3200) 1 gig of 2 512 sticks of PC2700
Geforce 6600 256 mb verison
450 watt coolermaster psu..

I get this error when loading windows for the first time:

Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information...

is this a problem with my hd?

I initially loaded windows 2000, then upgraded to XP.. before deciding to just load XP64.. so when it boots it comes to a menu where I can choose, but then it automatically choose xp 64 for me...

Please help

ensure that boot from cd is the first boot option in BIOS, then SATA hdd 2nd.

Also, if you still cant go further cos the disk isnt found, you may have to install the floppy drivers for SATA/RAID(yeah - I know, you don't want RAID, but you may have to install the drivers anyway) by pressing F6 when asked, very early on in the installation.
