Hey all
I bought the Xigmatek Dark Knight 1283 2 weeks ago and stupidly put the metal backplate on without using the 3m insulation pads it came with. It shorted the cpu and board pretty good.
I have my board and cpu replaced and i REALLY want to use this cooler now that I have it. I am a bit apprehensive about installing it now though as I don't want to fry the works again. I read the rather minimal instructions and it basically says to apply the 3m double sided sticky pads to the top and bottom of the backplate. I don't really want it stuck on my board forever because I may want to sell it down the road and I here the pads stick like glue. I wonder if I should use the plastic backplate from another socket 775 cooler I have as it has the same hole positions as the metal one xig sent me.
Anyone with experience with this cooler want to give me a little advice? Would it be possible to stick some clear plastic film to the adhesive so it will be able to take off if I need to? That's what is on the metal backplates on all my skt 939 boards.
