I Was just wondering if people with X2's could let me Know. I'm assuming you just have to update the Bios and windows will recognise it as new hardware. Im just wondering because it would take me forever to reinstall all my apps and configure everything.
And also this amd driver, by its description it looks like a power saving feature like Cool'n'Quiet.
If so is it bad for oc'ing? It seems very confusing some people are having no problems without the driver, and others have trouble with or without them.

"AMD Athlon? 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (exe) 1.2.2.2 - Allows the system to automatically adjust the CPU speed, voltage and power combination that match the instantaneous user performance need. This package is recommended for users whom desire a graphical user interface for installation. I didn't do a new install and I am having no issues...I did install the X2 drivers when I had an issue of a game called Flat out kept crashng at start up or jerking at the main screen until I set affnity. After the driver was installed no issue ever again with any application..I have encoded and gamed fine...I run F@H 24/7 and no issues with any other applications I run....

I updated the bios after installation and it still botted fine. It just didn't recognize the second core...flashed new bios..updated drivers for chipset and I was off and running...only added the x2 drivers about 3 weeks later after I had that one isseu and saw someone else talk about it....nothing else to date...

I have always had CNQ disabled in bios so the driver should have not helped me which it did...It obvioses has other factors in it as a driver...

Thanks Duvie for the quick response, its good to Here. i should resive my X2 3800+ In a day or two and will Post when i do. My Winchester was a Crapy Overclocker so i'm hopeing i won't get a dud.

I didn't exactly do this, but I did install XP Pro before it could recognize the other core. I then flashed the BIOS and the next time I booted XP detected the "new hardware" and installed the drivers for it.
