installing wxp sp2 on MAC help!

updated!

so i managed to burn the CD and boot to wxp and everything seems fine and i start installing the drivers and then after the ati video drivers it crashes when installing the ethernet drivers... wtf!!?!??!

it says "fatal error -1603 consult msi.chm or msdn...."

wtf!
i searched around and people have indeed had problems installing the mac drivers but none like this...

could it be because i used a custom wxp cd burnt with nLite?

Which mac do you have, because the firmware downloads are specific to the model of mac, ie the mac mini firmware update will not work on the imac or mac book/pros.
If you do have the correct firmware installed, all you need to to then is run the boot camp assistant and follow through the steps and your set

its an intel core duo mac

on the firmware page there are 2 intel mac downloads... the regular one (~120mb) and the "combo" one (~230mb) i downloaded and installed the combo one and rebooted and still no good...
i searched a bunch of mac forums and apparently this is a common problem but despite following all instructions i still haven't gotten it to work...

argh 🙁

my bro will be back in town tomo and i promised i'd have wxp set up for him!

sounds like you downloaded the os update file as the firmware downloads are only about 2mb. Below i linked each firmware update for the intel macs, just select the right one and your set.

Imac Firmware Update
Mac Mini firmware
Macbook Pro Firmware

The instructions are pretty simple, they are on the above websites and I copy them here too

To update the firmware on your Intel-based Mac:

1. Quit all other open applications.

2. Click Shut Down in the Firmware Updater window and wait for your computer to shut down.

3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until the power indicator light flashes repeatedly to begin the update.

A status bar indicates the progress of the update.

Important: Do not interrupt the update.

Your computer restarts automatically when the update is completed and opens the Firmware Updater.

4. Click OK, if the firmware is now up-to-date.

once that is done all you should have to do is run the Boot Camp Assistant and follow along and should be set
