when i install windows xp on a sata drive, i know you have to install the sata raid drivers (im using a msi k8n neo platinum), but i dont have a disk drive, so would i be able to install them off of a usb flash drive? or should i just install them to a cd.

Stop being thickheaded. Either get a floppy or try one of the other methods mentioned above.

A flash drive will only work if the motherboard will make XP setup think it's the floppy drive. The slipstream method is quite easy, and you can include the specific drivers for all of your hardware, and you will not need the floppy drive, or the F6 method during setup. You can also add in answers to all your setup questions, including the product key, so you won;t have to type anything during setup.

It only takes a few minutes to slipstream SP2 and any drivers you want. IMO, it's the easiest way, unless you have a floppy you want to hook up for setup.

Here is the simple solution than Insane 3D is talking about.

EDIT: And yes, I was in the same quandary when I put my rig together. You can boot from a card reader but cant install RAID drivers from it. I ended up buying a floppy drive myself.

If you want to take the floppy vs. slipstreaming route, this little piece of hardware may interest you...

If you are installing onto the NVIDIA SATA controller with just 1 hard drive, you should not need a disk for drivers.
it should install just like IDE would.

SATA RAID is another story.
