Installing WinXP on Dell PowerEdge Server

Hi,

I'm having a problem installing WinXp on a PowerEdge server.
Used nLite to update the WinXP Installation CD, but it halts at PERCSAS.SYS.

I believe someone had a workround/resolved this problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

S

Have you tried hitting F6 once setup starts and inserting the PERC 5i driver floppy when prompted?

You could slipstream them into XP as well.

Yeah, this isn't really a workaround. This is just how it's done when you have RAID controllers.

I installed the PERC 5i drivers onto the WinXP Installation CD using nLite.

It gets as far as loading drivers and comes up with -
"The file percsas.sys could not be found."

The aim here was to get round the "F6 - load drivers from floppy" method

ok, problem resolved using updated set of PERC 5i drivers.

At least now I don't have to rely on the floppy anymore!!

Thanks for your responses.

Ah. From your post, I got the impression you didn't do this. Glad you got it working, and welcome to the forums.

Hey ssc1, I'm doing the same thing you were doing and was wondering where you were able to locate and updated driver. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
J
