installing windows xp pro on 2x250GB hd's in raid 0

Just got my maxtor 250GB 16MB cache sata drives in today. Trying to set them up in raid 0 for windows install but having problems. I'm pretty sure it's Windows related. I've got XP Pro. I don't think it has any service packs on the cd. My asus sli board has the latest bios so that's not the problem.......with NV raid enabled it shows a healthy 466GB in the nvidia raid setup menu and in the bios. When starting windows install it locks when it says setup is starting windows at the bottom of the screen. Right after this is when it should show your hard disks and allow you to format or choose which one to install to.
It never gets that far though.

When I turn off NV raid and just run the 250's alone windows detects 2 130.xxxGB hard drives instead of 2 250GB hd's.

Does anyone know if the new version of xp pro with service pack 2 on the cd will correct this problem??

Had 2 80gb samsung's before and they worked fine in raid 0 until one crashed. I guess if I can't find the fix for these 250's I'll just send em back to newegg and get a couple 74GB raptors......what I should have done in the first place. :/

The HIGHLY TECHNICAL forum is not for troubleshooting.

Im not sure how you do it cause ive never installed windows on a bigger than 120gb hd. The problem is windows cannot see above 137gb. Im sure this is the problem you are having. In the past you needed an ata133 adapter card to see it. Now of course this is all integrated on mobo. The problem is this, you need the raid controler drivers installed before installing windows, so it will see the entire drive. Like I said im not sure how you install drivers first before windows. Im sure someone else will reply and help. It might be f6 maybe?

Yes windows does work on harddrives bigger then 120gb. When windows is just starting the install process it says press f6 if you need to install RAID drivers. Press that and you should be able to figure it out.

Fate got here first. just click F6 when it asks you if you want to install RAID drivers.
And how is this highly technical?

Cuz RAID 0 is highly-technical fast super-l33t stuff!
