Installing Windows XP on a new system w/ SATA drive...

This is a new system that I'm putting together. I have an Asus K8N-VM mobo and a Maxtor SATA drive. The BIOS is not picking up the hard drive, only the DVD drive. The section in the manual that mentions SATA writes, "Install W2K SP4 or WinXP SP1 before using Serial ATA."

So does this mean that I'm screwed? I don't have a floppy drive. Do I need to get an IDE drive to install Windows XP first?

You can install XP using a SATA drive. I have an XP disk with SP2 already on it. I had no issues installing XP. If you're not seeing the SATA drive on bootup, then there's something else wrong.
